Kalong Salt Fields, Thailand - 7 July 2023 Part 1
Today was a very long, about 14 hours, and busy. We traveled all over the western side of Thailand. We were picked up from the hotel by our driver and guide, Pop.
We drove about an hour to Kalong Salt Fields. It was so cute.
We learned how they bring in sea water and harvest salt from it. This is the Kalong Sea Salt storehouse. That is a lot of salt.
There was a boardwalk area with a restaurant, well a woman cooking. We sat at a table and waited for breakfast.
Pop, our guide, ordered breakfast for us, which was fish ball soup. Seriously. Those white round balls are fish balls.
I don't care for fish, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings. I did save the fish balls for last. We discovered this sauce was delicious.
Believe it or not, this sauce is fish sauce. It's terrific. Everything was really tasty, except the fish balls. I ate one and gagged it down. I would have spit it out but again didn't want to insult Pop.
After breakfast, we had a short drive to our next stop. Please see Part 2. Here is the route so far.
