Hola Cabo! - 3 Mar 2024

Any day you ask me to wake up and be on the road by 430am, is a day I am grumpy. Unless it's a travel day, then I am super excited. So, yes, we were on the road by 430am to drive 2 hours to Atlanta airport. The 'we' for this trip is Jamie (my sister), John (my brother-in-law), Aubrey (my niece), Breanna (my niece), Blake (my nephew) and Trevor (Blake's roommate).

We are flying from Atlanta (ATL) to Houston Hobby (HOU) changing planes and then onto Cabo (SJD). Where we will meet my brother, Tim, and his wife, Jenn.

Arrival was really bumpy, almost lost my lunch. Flying over the sand rivers was pretty cool. I would hate to see what it is like in a downpour.

We went through immigration and found our baggage, fairly easy.

FYI, if you haven't gone to Mexico, when going through customs, you push a red button. Every so many people get searched. I am almost always the 'random' person, but I made it through.

Now once you leave that area, the hard part begins. Jeez it was like running a gauntlet. So many people asking you if you need a taxi, timeshare, etc. We escaped outside and found T and Jenn. Then had to find the transfer service. The place was chaos, so many people. After 20 minutes or so we found the company and loaded into the van.

The drive was about 30 minutes to San Jose del Cabo, which is about 30 minutes from Cabo San Lucas. We saw a whale on the way.

We are staying at the Barcelo Gran Faro, which is an all-inclusive resort. Pulling up was so pretty. I love when you can see through the hotel to the ocean.

We checked in, which was a process with our group. Since I am the stray, I am rooming with Aubrey and Bre. We found our rooms, tossed our stuff and went to check out the beach.

The Barcelo is beautiful. I will be happy here this week. Only downside, is this stretch of the beach isn't safe for swimming. But there's a couple of pools for that. The waves were huge and loud.

Not to mention, it was cold! I had to go touch the water and a big wave surprised me. My tongue is red from the strawberry margarita I had.

We spent awhile enjoying the beach and talking. We even signed up for a whale watching tour and the guys signed up for a fishing trip. Once the sun started setting, it was dinner time.

We ate at the dinner buffet, which was terrible. I am not that picky, but it was bad. Well maybe I'll lose some weight while here.
