Death Railroad & River Kwai - 7 July 2023 Part 6

When I was researching Thailand, I came across the Death Railroad and River Kwai. I had always heard of the Bridge Over River Kwai but knew nothing about it. So, I read the book and did some research. Basically, Japan forced the British POWs to construct this railroad. So many people died, it became known as the Death Railroad. Since we were so close, I decided we had better check this out in person.

We didn't have time to ride the train, but we walked out on the bridge. The views were pretty.

Then we watched the train come through.

We grabbed a snack and started the drive back to Bangkok. Check out my Thai Coke (Coke Free not Zero here) and Cheetos.

Here is our route so far.

The drive back was almost 3 hours with traffic. Our driver loved to turn his turn signal on and leave it. Drove Jamie crazy. I had to stop to use the bathroom. Admittedly this is weird, but I was really excited to see a squatty potty. My bladder was about to burst, and this bathroom had one. It was not the appropriate time for experiments though. Turned out to be the only squatty potty I saw.

We made it back safely. This Pop (left), our driver (I loved his glasses) and Jamie (exhausted).

Here is the entire journey. It was a long day but so worth it.
